The PBS show, “Muhammad: Legacy of a Prophet” almost made me “hit the sawdust trail” for the nearest mosque! It was a peerless promotional piece of pernicious propaganda for a pathetic “prophet” - Mohammed.
The PBS show, “Muhammad: Legacy of a Prophet” almost made me “hit the sawdust trail” for the nearest mosque! It was a peerless promotional piece of pernicious propaganda for a pathetic prophet - Mohammed. There was not one negative word in the two-hour show! Mohammed was characterized as “most noble,” “wise,” and “compassionate.” Such pandering to Islam would gag a buzzard!
It was said that Mohammed was “the best example for you” to follow with no disclaimers. No mention that he took his adopted son’s wife as his own. No mention that he married a 6-year old girl and consummated the marriage when she was 9 (as documented in various hadiths)…
It was said that Mohammed was “the best example for you” to follow with no disclaimers. No mention that he took his adopted son’s wife as his own. No mention that he married a 6-year old girl and consummated the marriage when she was 9 (as documented in various hadiths). No mention that he owned slaves and taught that it was all right to sleep with female slaves, as he in fact did, causing fireworks in his harem down in old Arabia. No mention that he plundered the caravans taking 20% of the loot for himself. Ignoring all that, the show affirmed that he was “a perfect man.”
PBS informs us that there was a great abundance of women in Arabia, and Mohammed took multiple wives out of kindness to them. We learned that it was “an act of faith.” No mention that he said there were more women in Hell than men or that men were the managers of women or that a woman’s testimony was worth half that of a man’s. No mention that after battles, the women of the slaughtered men were given to his men while others were sold into slavery. No mention that after the Battle of the Trench, Mohammed had sex with Rihana whose husband and all male relatives had just been beheaded. No mention that Mohammed had more than 20 women in his harem that included his wives, concubines, and slaves. Of course, he took those women out of kindness. He was all heart, that Mohammed.
There was no mention that Mohammed gave instructions about beating a wife. No mention that Mohammed said that three things will interrupt one’s prayers if they pass in front of you: a black dog, a woman, or an ass. Nor that he believed women mentally deficient as compared to men. No mention about female mutilation. No mention of Mohammed’s “contract marriage” plan whereby a man could be “married” to a woman for 15 minutes for the purpose of sex. Wonder why PBS did not find that useful information for us to know?
Mohammed taught that a woman should satisfy her husband even on the saddle of a horse! Another translation says on the top of a burning oven! Shouldn’t the PBS viewers be informed of that quaint teaching?
The show did mention Mohammed killing of 700 men at the battle of Trench (many historians suggest 800 to a 1000). According to the “unbiased” experts on the show, those victims were “executed for treason.” Of course, there was no trial or evidence. Their “crime” was that they were Jews who did not support Mohammed in his battle against his enemy.
Nevertheless, I suppose, with PBS, when it comes to Islam anything that might be perceived as criticism is forbidden and anything positive toward Islam is permitted. Isn’t that censorship?
There was no mention of Mohammed’s hit man killing a poet while she was asleep with her children around her, one a small baby at her breast. No mention of his killing of Kab, a Jewish poet who had angered Mohammed with his poetry. I have read their poetry and while it isn’t great, it doesn’t merit the death penalty. No mention that Mohammed praised his hit men for their cowardly killings. Nevertheless, I suppose, with PBS, when it comes to Islam anything that might be perceived as criticism is forbidden and anything positive toward Islam is permitted. Isn’t that censorship? Gasp! Or maybe incredibly poor research?
Question: Will those Paragons of Virtue down at the ACLU and the Americans United for the Separation of Church and State (who recently held their annual meeting in a phone booth) demand that PBS lose its special position in broadcasting? Why should Baptist and atheist tax dollars fund a religious propaganda program? Does any honest person think PBS would have been so considerate if the subject had been “Christ: Virgin Born Son of God”?
What PBS knows about fairness, equality, and responsible behavior would fit into the navel of a flea. With their Moslem propaganda they proved that they would rather be politically correct than correct. Honest people would rather be honest.
